Meet Gaffer Gus

A wind-up movie camera from 1932 that still runs. No batteries, no app, no subscription.

Gus is a Cine-Kodak Eight Model 60, Kodak's home-movie machine from the Great Depression. You wind the spring, press the button, and it whirs away on 8mm film, which is how your great-grandparents documented picnics, babies, and some truly questionable hats.

He has a fast f/1.9 13mm Kodak Anastigmat lens, an eye-level finder, and a little exposure guide card built right into the body, so you don't need a light meter or a film-school degree. He shoots Double 8 film on 25-foot spools, which is a specialty item these days, so Gus is for the true cinema nerds.

His one flaw: the handle has been fixed with gaffer tape. If you've ever worked on a film set, you know gaffer tape is basically the official glue of cinema. Honestly, he's never looked more professional.
