Point. Press. Done. One job, zero settings to screw it up.
Are you exhausted by cameras with 47 menus, three dials, and a ten-part YouTube tutorial series? The C300 has a fixed-focus lens, which means there is literally nothing to focus. You don't focus. It doesn't focus. Nobody focuses. Stand a few feet back, frame the shot, press the button, and get on with your life.
Kodak rolled out the C300 at the PMA show in February 2005 as the entry ticket to its new EasyShare C-series, aimed squarely at people who wanted good prints and had zero interest in learning what an f-stop is. (It's not a yoga pose. Sorry.) "EasyShare" was Kodak's big promise: a dock, a cable, a CD of software, and a light prayer. You can skip all of that. Pop the SD card into your computer and you're done, which is honestly the easiest share of all.
3.2 megapixels is enough for prints up to 11 x 14, and just enough resolution to recognize your friends but not their pores. Nature's filter. There's a black and white mode and a sepia mode for making your brunch look like evidence in a 1930s murder trial. The 5x digital zoom exists, but your feet are the better zoom. Use your feet.
It also shoots short video clips without sound, which is how most of us wish other people's videos came. The 16MB of internal memory was respectable in 2005 and today holds roughly a handful of selfies, so an SD card is included.
All jokes aside, this is a simple, reliable, dummy-proof digital camera that runs on regular AA batteries. Hand it to your least technical friend at a party and it will still come back full of pictures. Cleaned, tested, fresh alkalines installed.
