Meet Daylight Dave
Seven megapixels, image stabilization, a big bright screen, and a flash that has permanently retired.
Dave is a Samsung S730 from 2007, a pocket camera that runs on two AA batteries and takes surprisingly decent pictures: 7 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, a 2.5-inch screen that brightens itself outdoors, and ASR stabilization to fight shaky hands and that third espresso.
Dave's flash is dead. My tip: keep him in Program mode and press the left arrow (the flash button) to switch the flash off. Program mode remembers that setting, so he won't keep trying to fire a flash that isn't there. Then go outside and shoot in daylight, the way the sun intended.
He also shoots video, adds voice memos to photos, and has a voice recorder mode for that podcast you're definitely going to launch someday. SD card and fresh AA alkalines included.
